Goldsboro is a town in Caroline County, Maryland, United States. The population was 216 at the 2000 census. The zipcode is 21636. It is named after Thomas Alan Goldsborough. Castle Hall was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975.[1]

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 0.2 square miles (0.52 km2), all of it land.

Demographics

As of the census[3] of 2000, there were 216 people, 77 households, and 58 families residing in the town. The population density was 1,221.5 people per square mile (463.3/km²). There were 84 housing units at an average density of 475.0 per square mile (180.2/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 93.98% White, 5.56% African American, and 0.46% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.78% of the population.

There were 77 households out of which 37.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.5% were married couples living together, 13.0% had a female householder with no husband present, and 23.4% were non-families. 20.8% of all households were made up of individuals and 7.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.81 and the average family size was 3.17.

In the town the population was spread out with 31.5% under the age of 18, 5.6% from 18 to 24, 31.0% from 25 to 44, 21.3% from 45 to 64, and 10.6% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 32 years. For every 100 females there were 98.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 102.7 males.

The median income for a household in the town was $39,500, and the median income for a family was $38,750. Males had a median income of $27,083 versus $23,750 for females. The per capita income for the town was $14,548. About 5.1% of families and 9.6% of the population were below the poverty line, including 21.7% of those under the age of eighteen and none of those sixty five or over.
